All you need to know in one small book.
At a mere 80 pages long you could be forgiven for thinking this is a quick guide to hanging baskets...not so. This little book is stuffed to the gills with information from creating a basket, what materials/linings to use, through designing plantings and to where they should be placed. It even tells you exactly how many of each plant you will need to obtain the effects pictured...ideal for the less confident gardener. There are foliage baskets, flowering baskets, ones for spring, ones for summer, indoor baskets and so on.
If all that isn't enough, there is a guide to maintaining your plants, pricking out, taking cuttings and avoiding problems.
Filled with lovely colour pictures throughout, this book is of the standard you would expect from the RHS and should prove useful to beginners and old hands alike. It is certainly good value for money.
Little hanging basket book
An excellent little pocket book that was an inspiration to plant this year's summer baskets! Packed full of useful information and ideas, not only about plants but suitable containers including some DIY ideas, how to plant traditional baskets and wall fixings. There's even a section dedicated to indoor plants and, although emphasis is on summer planting, there are also handy seasonal ideas too!
Being such a small book makes it quick and easy to read and spend less time with the book and more time with your baskets. As the book is small, it doesn't have full details about plant propagation, pests, etc. but you can find all that in general gardening books.
Informative but not quite what I was looking for
Very informative but I was looking for a bit more direction as to what I should plant and what would work together.
A good book overall though.
