One of Hutson's best
Gruesome murders are taking place with a distinctive style, but that isn't possible as the signature is years old and those responsible have been imprisoned. A washed-up detective searches for an explanation. You don't need to have read Hutson's books before to know that he'll regret uncovering the answer.
This is great roller-coaster novel. It starts fast, never lets up, and blasts to a conclusion without poising for breath. All the main characters are twisted and set on a destructive meeting. I don't think you could ask for better lightweight reading than this. It has plenty of the mega-violence you'd expect from Hutson, but all of it is cartoon violence and so great fun.
This Is One Of Hutson's Best!
I would probably give this book 4 and a half stars but it really is top draw. The first two thirds of the story are as good as I've ever read. The first few chapters manage to draw you in nicely. The book is fast paced which is what everyone wants but there are a lot of characters so at it is hard to remember who's who. The way Hutson writes is very individual. There is gore and sex but there is also a comic edge to it all. I felt the ending was a bit rushed but all in all an excellent book from who I consider an underrated author.
Oh dear........
Being a massive Shaun Hutson fan, this book nearly had me in tears (I said nearly!!). Very, very poor. Flittering between London's seedy clip joints, gang war & a prison suffering from a bad case of overcrowding, there's certainly enough blood & gore to keep the most strong stomached of us struggling to hold onto last night's dinner. The story is certainly there, men locked up years earlier for brutal murders reappearing on the streets of London carrying out their exact crimes, copycats maybe or something more sinister........strippers, gang bosses & a huge shipment of cocainne add to the suspense but If your this is your first Hutson book, PICK ANOTHER ONE!! I was disappointed to say the least.
