Product Description

May 1914. Two top diplomats hurry home by sea and rail, each carrying a document of world-changing importance. Then the liner Empress of India is sunk in a collision, and the Manhattan-Line express plunges from a shattered bridge - both dragging their VIP passengers to watery oblivion. Tragic coincidence - or conspiracy? Seventy-five years later, a chance revelation reopens the question. In the energy-starved fear-torn 1980s, those long-lost papers could destroy whole nations, and Dirk Pitt confronts his biggest challenge yet. Racing against time, against hired killers - and the horrors of the sea bed - he launches his deep-sea search craft in the hunt for the documents. 'Night Probe' has begun ...

Improbable but entertaining3
Dirk Pitt once more manages to find himself in the midst of aquatic adventure. As usual, this Cussler yarn is a standalone book, so can be read at any point. The tale itself weaves political upheaval around the search for two sunken treasures. Unfortunately, the plot requires a rather large leap of faith and this is compounded by stereotypical characters. That said, if you are prepared to suspend your disbelief, Night Probe has all the boxes checked that make an adventure book interesting. Although you'll want to see this one through once you've started it, there are plenty of better Cussler books you could read instead, most of which are smarter and more intriguing.

Cussler at his best!!!!!5
I'm a huge Clive Cussler fan and I love all of his books, but Night Probe is the one I'm more attached to; it has everything an adventure book should have: Heroes and villains, action and romance, suspense and fun. Dirk Pitt, Al Giordino and the "usual suspects" from NUMA are looking for a very important document that has to be found and both the copies of this document seem to be lost forever. This time there's a double threat on their way but as usual the guys will be able to face anything. No need to say more about the plot, better discover it while adventuring into this awesome novel... and get ready for a great cameo/surprise!!!

Enjoyable4
O.K. so it is a real stretch to get past the problem of a book with the hero having the ridiculous name of "Dirk Pitt" (if I had known that I would not have even bought the book) but despite that this book is remarlably entertaining.

Not the hardest or even most literate of reads , rather an entertaining and easy read.

If you are looking for a book just to entertain you without to much of a challenge this book is perfect.
