Customer Reviews

Good but strangely unsatisfying4
Having read the previous books in the series, I was really looking forward to finding out how the story ended in this one. And although I greatly enjoyed the book and for the most part thought it a worthy conclusion to the story, I have to say I didn't enjoy the storyline involving Olive at all.

When I reread the book now I skip through the parts involving Olive and Ray, simply because I feel what happened wasn't in-keeping with the picture of Olive's character I'd built up from the previous books. She seems to act like a different person for reasons not adequately explained.

I also think you're supposed to feel sorry for Ray but the writing didn't pull that off for me at all - I couldn't shake the feeling that he was not worthy of his inclusion in the story, and I couldn't like him even a little.

The inclusion of the tale of Olive and Ray spoiled this book for me. Otherwise, I really enjoyed it and would recommend reading both it and those before it.

Awesome series!5
I recently finished this series of books, and just had to write and say how much I enjoyed them! I felt a connection to Lilian Harry's characters, and loved how she intertwined all of their lives! Ms. Harry did an awesome job of helping me learn more about WII! Thank you! Can't wait to read more from this amazing author!

Couldn't put it down5
Read this out of sequence as I didn't realise it was part of a series as I have only just got into reading this genre. What I found however was a book I just couldn't stop reading. The storyline had me gripped and I felt like I was living it with the characters at times. Having spent my early years living just outside Portsmouth I could 'see' the places vividly which I suppose helped but even for those who don't know Portsmouth at all I think they would find this book a worthwhile read.
