Product Description

With 30 feature films, a television series, TV specials and a stage show under its banner, Carry On has become a British institution notorious all over the world for its inimitable and irrepressible brand of humour. The book captures in words and pictures all the mayhem and mirth, on and off screen, in three decades of comedy-making. The author chronicles the making of each film individually, detailing censorship problems and instances when the team went beyond the realms of publicly acceptable taste. He also includes reviews, press campaigns and box office gross figures. Interviews with Sid James, Kenneth Williams and Peter Butterworth are included along with pictures taken on the sets of all the films. The various TV series and specials that were made in the 1970s are also featured.

A joyful composition of laughs about a memorable era of film5
Having read this book, and being a dedicated fan of Carry on flims, I found to my pleasure 'Carry On Laughing' a chance to escape back into the world of sexual innuendo, slap-stick humour and over-exaggerated but nevertheless remarkable acting. The book is packed full of splendid pictures such as Bernard Breslaw dressed in drag for a beauty contest, and contains infamous quotes like 'Infamy infamy, they've all got it in for me!' by Kenneth Williams. For any true Carry On fan, and indeed anyone who is just curious about this celebrated series of films, the book is informative, praising and critical at the same time. The only problem I can think of with the book is that the Carry On Team are not alive to read it. Congratulations to the author and publishers for creating some real humour, unlike the more sleasy humour of the '90's.

An interesting, insightful look at the Carry Ons5
If, like myself, you have been a huge Carry On fan since a young age, and find the "behind the scenes" stories fascinating, then this is the ultimate book for you! It describes how certain ideas for the film series were not made, the incidents on the film sets, relationships between the actors, and opinions/reviews on all of the Carry On films. The only thing that I was disappointed about at first was that there are no color photographs in the book. However, out of the three Carry On books that I have bought it is the best of them as it gives more insight and unusual facts about the film series, and therefore I would recommend it to any Carry On fan.

Carry on Laughing? I couldn't stop!5
This is the first book on the Carry Ons that I bought and is still right up there with the best of 'em. All the favourites are here and it's a really entertaining read. Your enjoyment of the book is enhanced if, like me, you know the films virtually line for line (or am I just sad?) Seriously though, this book does justice to the great British institution of the Carry On films. It sparked my interest in other publications on them so, be warned, it could just be the start....
