Customer Reviews

A plausible exhaustive survey presented in a popular manner5
As the back cover blub says, this book presents a compelling case in a readable way. It covers a vast subject but nevertheless maintains interest throughout without becoming mired in oppressive detail. BUT, there is one glaring error, or point which is not presented with absolute clarity. On page 236 Andrews suggests or implies that the suppression of the Knights Templar originated in 1312. It did not. Sealed orders were issued by Philip the Fair to his officers under orders not to open them until the morning of Friday 13 October 1307. On that day the Templar elite were arrested and imprisoned and it is therefore on that date that the suppression of the Order commenced.
