Catherine Morland should know better. She's the very ideal of a nice, normal girl. But Catherine is cursed with an overactive imagination. She is also obsessed with lurid Gothic novels, where terrible things happen to the heroine. Which gets her into all sorts of trouble…
When Catherine visits Bath and meets funny, sharp Henry Tilney, she’s instantly taken with him. But when she is invited to the Tilneys' home, the sinister Northanger Abbey, fantasy starts to get in the way of reality. Will she learn to separate out the two?

About the Author
Jane Austen was born in 1775, in Steventon, Hampshire, where her father was rector. When she was 25 the family moved to Bath till her father’s death in 1805, then to Chawton in Hampshire where Jane lived with her mother and sister. She died in 1817.
Well-received during her lifetime, since her death she has become known as not just one of the greatest writers of English fiction, but one of the most beloved.
Customer Reviews
Wasn't expecting too much but was pleasantly surprised
I really enjoyed this book. I loved how dynamic Miss Moorland was, she seemed to be so normal and everyday. I could identify with her self doubts and getting herself into awkward situations and her runaway imagination. I thought it was interesting that the love interest was a very secondary character and the book whereas the female relationships were followed and scrutinized closely which was refreshing. Catherine felt more of a Bridget Jones character than Elizabeth Bennet whom I have read she is based on.
Would highly recommend this book, takes a while to get into the language but once you have set you ears you can pick up speed.
