Gourmet Desserts Every Time
Before retirement, I taught Foods and Nutrition in a secondary school and everything had to be "made from scratch". After reading an article about Anne Byrn in the food section of the newspaper, I was fascinated by her concept of starting never having a baking failure because she always started with a packaged cake mix. I bought her first book and was a convert! The advice given in the side bars means that everyone can learn how to bake successfully. The book is a handy and easy to read cookery course. The Chocolate Cake Mix Doctor, or they say on her website, CMD, is as good or better than the original. The Boston Cream Pie Cake was the featured dessert of our recent New Year's Eve party. When I bring a dessert to a dinner or party, people know it will be good and I do not have to agonize over finding a recipe. The illustrated photos at the front of the book are really useful. You will never again have to pay exhorbitant prices for biscotti. I am not familiar with the availabilty of cake mixes in the UK but I hope that the same selection of ingredients is available because everyone should be able to be a "Gourmet Pastry Chef" with the purchase of this book.
