Not at all what I expected!
I had bought this book to read with my 6 year old daughter, hoping that it would address the issue of different skin colours and maybe mixed-raced children. However the book's title is misleading, as it is, in fact, a book clearly and solely about racism. While it might be useful for children (aged 4 to 9) who have either been the victims or perpetrators of racism, it was not at all useful for the purpose I intended it for. Indeed, as my daughter has not been the victim or prepetrator of racism, I thought it would be upsetting for her and make her feel bad or insecure about her skin colour since this is not a problem she has had to face yet. Instead, we went to the local tanning studio, looked at the spray and also the "bake" tanning machines and are delighted in the fact that not only does she not need it, but also there are so many tanning shops around, which means lots of people pay good money to achieve the sun-kissed look!
