This is the greatest book ever that should recieve 10 star.
This is an incredible book. Once you pick this book up you will never ever put it down. This story haunts you at night and keeps you thinking about this story. It is nicely weaved into the story of the Holocaust. It is so interesting. You have to right it. TRUST ME. YOU WILL LOVE IT.
A harrowing tale that will change you forever.
Jane Yolen beautifully intertwines the tale of Briar Rose (Sleeping Beauty) with the horrors of the Holocaust. I am not a reader of fantasy, but this currently tops my personal list of best books. This was an incredible, exhausting journey.
Good book for people whho are new to the Holocaust
Jane Yolen wonderfully connects the story of Sleeping Beauty with the Holocaust. She uses Gemma, a young woman who is aprehended for being Jewish. She is sent to the secret camp of Kulmhof where whe is tormented and finally gassed. But, she survives! In the deep trench filled with human carcasses, whe mangages to twitch and move. Partisans in the forest scrounge for survivors. They find her and bring her back to life. The rest of the story holds meticulous details of the holocaust and a woman in search of her grandmother's, Gemma's, roots. There are many exciting moments in this book and you will enjoy this book thoroughly. There are, though, some moments where the dialogue gets a little weak and poor. But don't stop reading--there's something waiting around the corner.
