Product Description

This concise pocket-sized guide presents the classic Bates approach to physical examination and history taking in a quick-reference outline format. The book features a beautiful full-color art program and an easy-to-follow two-column format with step-by-step examination techniques on the left and abnormalities with differential diagnoses on the right. This edition's health promotion sections have been extensively updated and expanded in all chapters. Detailed information on pain assessment is now included in the general survey, vital signs, and pain chapter. A new chapter presents assessment of mental health status and behavior to encompass the psychosocial dimensions of care. A bound-in CD-ROM contains a free PDA download of head-to-toe examination.

Customer Reviews

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!5
This book is invaluable - I am a staff nurse at a Walk in Centre, and have found that using this book has shortened and improved my examination skills, and the recording of the examination - it was recommended by the A/E nurse consultant on our recent Minor Injuries course, and has lived up to it's reputation

Nurse Practitioner5
This little book was recommended for the Nurse Practitioner degree course I did and proved it's worth a hundred times over. It is probably the most thumbed book I own and is very easy to find information in it.

Physical Examination5
For nurses or junior doctors, this is an ideal book to carry in your pocket. It has just the right amount of detail in order to act as a reminder or guide on the process you're trying to carry out. It is a 'readable' book in that it is easy to decipher - maybe a book to go hand in hand with anyone studying for the Independent and Supplementary Prescribing qualification.
