Editorial Reviews

From the Author
Extracts from Reviews of 'The Polish Way':
'Adam Zamoyski's The Polish Way is a stunner; a comprehensive history of Poland from its origins to its present tragic fate. Clear, calm, beautifully written, its scope is enormous, its story enthralling and its plates magnificent.' Bernard Levin, in The Times.

'A rich and delightful book.' Piers Paul Read in The Sunday Telegraph.

'It is the coming of age of a writer of great intelligence, beautiful style, and a wise sense of humour.' The Guardian.

'The book blends broad brush strokes with pointillist detai in a marvellously satisfying and gripping way and has immediately taken its place as THE outstanding study in this field.' The Times Educational Supplement.

'I was so impressed by this book.' Norman Stone, in the Sunday Times.

'The most rewarding book of the year.' John Jolliffe in the Spectator.

'Adam Zamoyski is the right man to tell this tale. His short history is delightful reading, informative and beautifully illustrated.' - Peter Reddaway on the BBC World Service.

'Adam Zamoyski scores well. Indeed, he frequently triumphs. Crystal clarity, masterly arrangement and a style of unusual distinction together make his first fifteen chapters a tour de force - something on which he is simply to be warmly and admiringly congratulated.' Michael Hurst, in 'Polin, a journal of Polish-Jewish Studies.

Customer Reviews

Great for European context and Polish culture.4
This book provides a wide and far ranging account of a thousand years of Polish history and culture.
Zamoyski has given the subject of Polish culture a far greater share of the pages than many books about Polish history that I have read. The book is illustrated with examples of Polish art, documents, photographs and maps.A detailed and contextualised account of Polish history is given in a very readable format. An excellent book for both newcomers to Polish history and old hands.
