Customer Reviews

Too off-line to compare to the cult game2
After being hooked first on bg1, then bg2, i had hoped that this book would offer more in-depth comparasons to the game...but alas... i was very disappointed at this read. Gave the book the cursory read, but it is my opinion that you would get more enjoyment from your own imagination whilst dreaming after playing the pc game than this book would ever give.

Horrific!1
I'm still playing the game and I'm extremely keen on fantasy novels. This is the reason why I decided to buy that book and also the Throne of Bhaal follow up. What a waste of money! I couldn't even finish Baldur's Gate II, it was that bad. The author is jumping from one scene to another, obviously didn't understand what the game was about, didn't mention some of the most important characters... all of that made it difficult to like that book. My recommendation: Stay faaaar away!

An awful adaptation...1

When i was younger i played on Baldur's Gate 2 for hours on end, it was a truly great game and it's story was one of the major parts of its appeal. I bought this book hoping it'd be more of the same but i was sadly disapointed.

In truth, it was kinda to be expected - all kinds of movie and game tie ins like this are almost always terrible but this reaches a real low. There's only the slightest references to the events of the game and the characters bear little resemblance to what they are like in the game. The plot is awful and filled with unnescarily copious amounts of sex and violence which comes across as cheap and tacky. I don't think i even finished reading the book, it was that bad.
