With an extraordinary reputation for authority and accuracy, this landmark biology text continues to be an invaluable learning partner for students and teachers. The authors focus on the "big ideas" of biology: each chapter is organized around key concepts that build in a logical way, and are clearly explained and reinforced by the text discussion and illustration. The straightforward writing style, appropriate level of depth, and judiciously-selected coverage are other hallmarks.
A comprehensive new supplements package includes instructor's presentation software, a Web-based classroom management system, a highly-interactive student learning CD-ROM, an instructor's guide to media, nearly all text art on acetates, and more. The Special Edition of The Biology Place— allows students to explore animations, take quizzes, and access the most up-to-date biology resources on the Web.

Great Book
This is the best textbook I've ever seen. I'm not even a biology student and I love it. Although it is fairly basic, it is rigourous enough that several courses may be taught from it alone. I await the rumoured 5th edition with baited breath...
Innovative, exciting and fully explained!!!!!
Campbell's 4th edition Biology is a book that broadens knowledge of biology with illustrations that helps us understand biology. It also underlines key concepts throughout the book, recommended to anyone.
This is the greatest textbook that I have ever seen!
I have used dozens of textbooks in life, and this is without the best. Everyone that I have ever talked to about this book loves it. Cambell weds clear text with good diagrams to effictively explain difficult concepts. Cambell's use of key themes to unite what appears to unrelated data provides a strong conceptual backbone. This book is without doubt the premier biology survey course.
