Wonderful!
Arizona journalist Kelly Taylor saw her illusions and her heart shatter when her husband died in a plane crash. Only then she learned that he had a child, abandoned in an orphanage. After the pain and grief, she is left with an overwhelming yearning to rescue the little boy. The only person she can turn to is undercover agent Logan McCord, who had also been kidnapped as a child and is still scarred from the harrowing incident. As a single woman, Kelly knows she doesn't stand a chance of being able to legally adopt her husband's child. Now she desperately prays that Logan's own tragic experience will convince him to not only help her, but also to marry her. Soon Kelly and Logan begin a perilous liaison, joined in a sham marriage that arouses an irresistible desire. And together they confront a maelstrom of secrets and danger, where and innocent child and a cruel killer are eagerly waiting . . .
Sawyer characters, especially Kelly and Logan, are very realistic in the reader's mind. They're entwined into a very good story where the killer is waiting for the chance to kill them. Sawyer keeps you guessing thru-out, adding in complications and surprises. Wonderful! If passion, deceit, love and hatred is what you're looking for then look no further! A book that is hard to put down!
Rarely is there a book as good as this one!
Meryl Sawyer's TEMPTING FATE is one of the best books I have ever read. Logan McCord is a wonderfully scarred and tortured hero. His kidnapping experience seems to have scarred him permanatly, such as his distaste of kissing. Kelly Taylor is a wonderful young woman and neither Logan or Kelly seem to quite understand the other. There are some misunderstandings between the two. There are many questions the reader may form at the beginning of this book such as...Who kidnapped Logan? What were their reasons? Maybe the kidnapper is closer to home than anyone thinks. Why does Logan barely remember his first five years before his kidnapping? Why does he look so much like his "adoptive" father? Why do his supposed siblings resent his return? Don't worry. Meryl Sawyer will answer these questions and more. The answers may surprise you.
Steamy, sizzling romantic suspense
Over a quarter of a century ago, as a young child, Logan McCord was abducted from his adoptive parents to live amidst a family that showered him with nothing resembling love. His upbringing provided Logan with the perquisite requirements needed to perform undercover antiterrorist work for the government.
Kelly Taylor is a reporter, mourning the death of her spouse, who has left behind a child (from another woman) in Columbia. She has a chance to interview Logan, whose fingerprints prove that he is the missing adopted son of Senator Stanfield and his wife.
Kelly asks Logan to help her adopt the son of her deceased husband. She needs a husband who knows South America and he needs a wife who can help him investigate why someone wants him removed, more permanently, from the Stanfields again. They agree to a marriage of convenience and fly to Columbia where they fall in love as dangerous criminals chase them into the nearby jungle.
Meryl Sawyer is one of the top authors of romantic suspense and her latest novel, TEMPTING FATE, is a fabulous addition to her repertoire. The story line is loaded with action and suspense, and the lead protagonists are a wonderful pair, struggling to overcome external enemies and internal histories. Though the villains are too superficial and cartoonish, Ms. Sawyer provides readers with an intriguing, superb romantic suspense.
