Product Description

An encyclopaedic reference on acrylics. With its great flexibility, acrylic paint can mimic the appearance of oils, tempera and watercolours in unique ways, and in this volume each method is pictured in a separate step-by-step demonstration. The author examines the use of acrylics with airbrush, sculptural and printing techniques -even three-dimensional relief painting and collagraphy printing methods are included - and several of these different creative processes can be integrated successfully in one composition with ink, pencil, charcoal and pastel. Inspiring examples of representational and abstract subjects are depicted throughout, and a complete survey of acrylic materials covers the best paint brands, painting mediums, supports, varnishes, brushes, knives and palettes.

Customer Reviews

If you need one book on acrylics5
If you are thinking about taking up acrylic painting and are looking for that initial advice on materials, tools and techniques this book has all the right advice pitched at a entry level. I have lots of books on painting and teach acrylics and this book is the one of those which stands out from the rest as a thoroughly well researched piece of work.

I agree5
I definitely agree with the earlier review about this book. It is a substantial and thorough work covering a very wide range of techniques. It is well written and illustrated mainly by the author's paintings. As his style has changed over a number of years this gives a chance to show a great variety of approach and methods. His chapter on the materials available is a bit frustrating because, naturally , many are not easily available here . A good buy

Excellent help for beginners5
I do not normally leave any feedbacks but I believe this book deserves one. It's written in simple language explaining everything you need to know to start with acrylic paints. It helps to find interesting ideas for paintings, shows techniques and inspires, especially the beginner artists, to carry on trying and experimenting with the greatest paints of all - acrylics. I would strongly recommend this book to everybody.
