Editorial Reviews

From the Author
In Readings, I have tried to bring together, into one volume, key excerpts from some of most useful and insightful material that is currently available on school teaching. The book stands alone as a unique resource. However, there may be added value from following up its links to the chapters and discussions contained in the Reflective Teaching handbook.

The collection represents the work of several generations of educators and researchers - though, even with 120 readings, it has not been possible to include all the excellent material that is available. In a sense though, the book remains a collective product and I would like to pay tribute to the many colleagues who remain obsessed enough to keep on trying to describe, analyse and understand education in so many diverse ways. They are: Janet Collins (Open University), Neil Simco (St Martin’s College, Ambleside), Jo Warin (University of Lancaster) Sue Swaffield and Paul Warwick (University of Cambridge).

Heavy going2
This book is essentially a collection of summaries of academic articles which is very useful for finding references if you are writing an assignment. However, as an NQT student, I have found texts such as 'Getting the Buggers to Behave' by Sue Cowley and 'Essential Teaching Skills' by Chris Kyriacou more valuable as tools for reflection than this huge collection of rather dry academic articles.

Teachers5
This is a must have .. Very useful for teacher training in key stage 1, 2 .. I have found all the authors books very informative , they are regularly updated . as for the price well its hardly discounted and tesco, play.com etc seem to charge about the same..
