Occult Adventure Fiction5
This is a grand read, I was sceptical about it to begin with but decided to buy it on the strength of recommendations and the unusual cover art.

It features a coven of necromancers and principally their "master summoner" who has broken with them after an apocalyptic sabbat during which the majority of the coven where killed, including his beloved.

The plot is very pacy, I frequently missed the time passing when I took a moment to read and the also definitely bares a second reading too. While there are lots and lots of occult references, gnosticism, wicca, heavenly and hellish hierarchies, witch hunters, witchcraft, familiars, spooks and demonology the focus was in a lot of ways upon the relationships between the members of the coven, rivalry between key players, their oaths to kill one another or crazy plots (ie to "resurrect" Jesus or Elijah, persons who ascended bodily into heaven).

The description of the Coven's House, renovated by djinn, and its library are likely to sound like a book antiquarian or book hunter's dream and the author is able to convey a lot of feeling and description with a great economy of words. Not too cerebrally challenging, not too challenging or serious a read but a lot of fun to get through.
