Product Description

Much has been said about the gift of the cross itself, but what of the other gifts? What of the nails, the crown of thorns? What about the garment taken? What about the garments given? Have you taken the time to open these gifts?

Let's examine them shall we? Let's unwrap these gifts of grace as if - or perhaps, indeed - for the first time. And as you touch them - as you feel the timber of the cross and trace the braid of the crown and finger the point of the spike - pause and listen. Perchance you will hear him whisper: 'I did it just for you'.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Reading a Max Lucado book is as comfortable as having coffee and conversation with a close friend. He Chose the Nails: What God Did to Win Your Heart is signature Lucado: warm, conversational storytelling blended with scripture, humour and vulnerability.

Lucado invites us to understand the symbols surrounding Christ's crucifixion and celebrate the significance of the promises they offer. From the sign in different languages tacked to the cross ("I will speak to you in your language") to the burial clothing ("I can turn your tragedy into triumph") he speaks of each symbol as a "gift of grace" that reveals God's love for mankind.

Lucado takes us to Calvary, and shows us our sins nailed between the hands of Jesus and the cross. "You've made some bad choices in life, haven't you", writes Lucado. "You've chosen the wrong friends, maybe the wrong career, even the wrong spouse. You look back over your life and say, 'If only I could make up for those bad choices.' You can. One good choice for eternity offsets a thousand bad ones on earth. The choice is yours".

Whether he's bantering around phrases like "the hall monitors of holiness" or crafting a deeper expository on the crown of thorns, Lucado neatly balances the task of making his words accessible to a broad audience while delivering a meaty message on God's greatest sacrifice. Pick up this insightful read, and you will be glad you made the choice. --Cindy Crosby

Awesome5
Okay - I admit it - I'm a Max Lucado fan BUT not so much as to be overly biased on anything he produces. This book however really brought me to tears at many points during it. Max's superb talent for taking bible stories we've all heard 1000 times before and turning them round to look at them in a whole new light, makes you rethink many views you may have had before. This particular book along with "Six hours one Friday" focuses on the salvation offering of Christ's crucifixion and points out that Jesus had EVERY choice in heaven and earth to not undergo death at that time, in that manner or for any reason given his divinity. But He CHOSE to - and Max writes much about the reasons behind that choice. Enough to bring the hardest unbeliever to a point of rethinking their attitude about the whole event perhaps. Also, certainly, one to read if you are a Christian and your faith is perhaps waning somewhat and you want to rediscover what it was about Jesus that ever made you want to know Him in the first place.

That I May Know Him - Read It, Read It, Read IT!5
If you want to draw closer to Jesus and understand what Paul was speaking about when he spoke about the fellowship of His sufferings then this is the book for you.

As I read each chapter of this book I had a new appreciation for every aspect of Christ's passion. Max has a way of turning over the smallest stones to reveal the greatest diamonds hidden underneath.

Read it and discover why Jesus chose the nails.

Teaching drawn from the crucifixion of Christ5
Ok so I am a Max Lucado fan, but here is another great book by Max Lucado. Each chapter takes a different theme about the crucifixion of Jesus. Perhaps the main theme is that a dying man would not write his final message accidentally. Max draws out intimate and personal teaching from all that surrounded the cross- for example the sign that was hung above Jesus was written in 3 languages, the lesson that is drawn from that is that God speaks your language and will go to any length to speak to you to show you of his love.

My only regret about this book was that I read it too quickly.
