A Jesus who understands stress firsthand!
This gem of a book by Max Lucado charts "the second most stressful day in the life of our Saviour" and follows Jesus through a day wrought with demands and disappointment. From the news of the murder of his cousin, John the Baptist, the news that Herod wanted to kill him too through the "immeasurable joy" of his disciples returning having been healing the sick and performing miracles, "immense crowds and incredible demands" of people who wouldn't give him space to grieve and rest on such a day and these same disciples failing to trust Him later that same day when faced with 5,000 hungry people.
As Max talks through these events one by one, he gives you an understanding of quite how much pressure Jesus was under and yet how He "stayed calm in the midst of chaos" because He "knew the value of people." It is a lucid and helpful study of familiar Bible passages that takes you past your preconceptions and into what it must have been like to be there experiencing this stuff. The message? That Jesus knows all about storms and stresses and will be with you in them and help you. As always with Max Lucado, this is a book of hope that "with every torrent there is a calm centre - a place you can stand when your world gets windy." Read it and be assured that Jesus is Someone who knows exactly what you are feeling and that He "is closer than you've ever dreamed."
