excellent beginners book
This is an excellent book for the beginner,but it concentrates on underlying principles rather than being a how to book. It is heavily biased in favour of a psychological basis of magic. Regardie has a background in psychoanalysis as well as being Aleister Crowley's secretary for 3 years. This is actually 5 short books in one. 1. THE ART AND MEANING OF MAGIC. a good introduction with brief explanations of divination,invocation,evocation and links to the unconscious and psychoanalysis. 2. A QABALISTIC PRIMER this is a brilliant beginners introduction to the qabalah. 3.MEDITATION stresses the technical skills necessary and cuts out a lot of the woolly thinking on the subject. 4. THE QABALAH OF NUMBER OF MEANING this explains 2 qabalistic techniques NOTARIQON and especially GEMATRIA. This converts hebrew words into numbers and connects them to other words. 5. THE ART OF TRUE HEALING this explains how using the middle pillar technique and circulating energy is good for healing and health. Overall a good book from a man who knew what he was talking about.
