A Handbook for the 14th Century soldier5
The Armies of Crecy and Poitiers is a really good book for a person looking to get into the background of fourteenth century warfare. The plates were also fun to look at and it gave me a good idea of what armour of the period.

My favorite thing about this book was the way in which the author passed over the uninteresting bits of the army, and focused clearly on the greater aspects of the period. He used this to great effect in the book and I found it fun.

But by far the best thing are the plates. They are colorful as well as informative, and you can clearly see what the great royal houses of Europe's cot of arms. They had to be my favorite thing because of the way you can see the characters of 650 years ago as what they most likely looked at.

This is a small book, only 40 pages, but even within a small read you can clearly get a picture of what medieval soldiers looked like. A very good book
