Customer Reviews
Football heaven
A fine little book if you are interested in the footballers and managers of the past. Sometimes a famous name lives on - Shackleton, Blanchflower, Cantwell, Lawton etc - but the details are lost in history. This book brings to life their glorious achievements and at times their inevitable downfall.
Glanville peppers some of the obituaries with humorous anecdotes which alleviate the obvious sombre tones. It's easy to see from his writing the affection he has for some of beautiful game's greatest exponents although there are some strange exclusions: Shankly, Paisley, Jock Stein, Alan Ball to name just four.
Hopefully there will be another installment at some future point.
