The single most successful and powerful force in Punk was also one of the shortest-lived. The Sex Pistols first burst onto a complacent and moribund music scene in 1976, but at the time of Sid Vicious' death in February 1979 the group had already been disbanded for twelve months. Yet in that short time the Sex Pistols established themselves as one of the truly innovative groups in rock history, and created a legend that has continued to grow in strength ever since.
Though the Sex Pistols would despise such nostalgic adulation, memorabilia, artefacts, ephemera and rare recordings of the group have become highly sought after by collectors, with prices to match. Now, in God Save The Sex Pistols, author Gavin Walsh, himself a self-confessed fanatic and dedicated collector, has compiled the definitive collectors' guide to the group. It lists all their LPs, singles, CDs, bootlegs, magazines, posters and merchandise, together with an indication of rarity. But it is more than just a handbook for dedicated collectors or investors in rock memorabilia. It also chronicles the history of the group, from its coming together in a shop in King's Road, Chelsea called Sex, to the survivors' individual careers.
Illustrated with a stunning collection of Pistols artefacts: rare record sleeves, posters and concert tickets, merchandising, acetates and photographs. The long-awaited God Save The Sex Pistols is a visual record of the group's legacy, itself set to become a collector's item.

worshipping at the high alter of the priests...
Walsh's fanaticism is compelling, his attention to the obscure and sublime fascinating. This is the last word on Pistols collectibles and an insightful read. The rare record sleeves are awesome. I reccomend it to Punk fans new and old, an essential purchase....
