An excellent insight into coping with Rheumatism & Arthritis5
Having very recently been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, I decided a book on the subject was a must. Following a browse around the internet, I bought "Coping with Rheumatism and Arthritis" by Dr Robert Youngson for no other reason than 'liking the front cover'. It proved to be a very good decision.

The book, although using medical terminology, is written in such a way that the layman can easily understand. Each condition mentioned is well covered starting with an explanation and causes, symptoms, what happens to the joints, outlook and treatment and drugs.

Coping with one's problem is, of couse, the most important part of having an illness. This factor is covered very thoroughly in Chapter 9, "General Treatments for Rheumatic Disorders". It covers the most obvious and basic treatment - the medication prescribed by the doctor or consultant, but more importantly, very helpfully covers self help, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychological counselling, complimentary medicine, methods of pain relief and, in Chaper 11, aids and applicances. Chapter 9 indicates clearly that life does not come to a standstill just because we have an arthritic condition. Help can be obtained from many sources to make life easier and to help us cope with our condition and get on with our life.

This book definitely gives very helpful information and provides an excellent insight into how one can 'cope' with Rheumatism and Arthritis.
