An honest, involving biography from the Cad of Comedy
Terry-Thomas starred in over 70 films. Most famous for his role as either the blundering 'Englishman'or the scheming cad looking to make an 'honest' pound. Terry-Thomas starred alongside many greats such as Peter Sellars, Jack Lemmon in his distinguished career. This book takes you back to Terry-Thomas's youth and illustrates his frustrations, dreams and escapism from a working class background in North London. From a young age TT was dreaming of a rich, star status lifestyle and was determined not to remain in Finchley. He talks about the people he meets, his relationships with them and how he essentailly fooled people with his upper-class act. The book gives a very close portrayal of how his life turned following the onset of Parkinsons disease. As a reader you see how he kept smiling and making people laugh even though by the early 1990's he really was fighting a huge battle against this terrible illness. In summary any true TT fan should read this book not just for his film memoires but for a personal incite into this fascinating man.
