Synopsis
The author, an RIBA graduate architect, gives the reader the blue print for various buildings and dwellings such as a cave dwelling, skyscrapers, temples, pyramids, cathedrals, apartment blocks and petrol-stations. She refers to buildings as the "art we live in," occupying our space, time and vision. The styles, material, inventions and the good and the bad of architecture, are explained. Famous architects' work is looked at, including Palladio, Le Corbusier, Bauhaus and Richard Rogers.
