ESSENTIAL
this book is theonly cycling book i have seen in the last 10 years to tell you not only what ot do but why! it makes genuinley interesting reading and is a must for any exercise proffesional or even cycling competitor. it delves deeper into physiology and biomechanics than many specific books and will genuinley teach you something. all in all the only cycling (or even physiology) book i would recomend
UCI LEGAL !
If you are looking for, or expecting a training manual on cycling workouts, this isn't it ! Although it does "touch" on training, it is in no way a "get fit quick" manual, that you regularily see. The book deals with biomechanics (pedalling etc), and how the body/muscles work. Written by Francesco Conconi, it goes more in depth than any book written on cycling sports science. Some interesting stuff on aerodynamics and nutrition. Worth a look !
