Customer Reviews

Very pleasing5
Tony 'Baldrick' Robinson's 'Amateur Wind Instrument Maker' is an excellent guide to the craft of instrument building. As a semi-professional Pan-pipe player, I have often been disappointed with the timbre of mass-produced instruments. To achieve results here one requires a good degree of competence in various skills, but they are worth the effort. Doreen assures me that my rendition of 'Apache' now comes across far more effectively than on any factory-made instrument. This is a marvellous pre-cursor to his later book 'Amateur Grand Piano Maker'.

Unique book4
This book is the only one of its kind available. It gives practical instructions for the serious builder of high quality oboes, clarinets, etc. The book is certainly worth having and in general the instructions are good. If anything it's too short and it would be nice if someone published a similar book more aimed towards people who aren't already master craftsmen. Because it is brief some important topics like the boring of conical instruments are given too short an explaination. However, dispite this, I would highly recommend the book.
