An eclectic mix
While many books in this field are centred mainly on woodworking, this one has a much wider scope including tools used in the smithy and on the farm, for example.
It falls well short of being a true encyclopaedia, nevertheless there's plenty here to help identify a wide range of tools and the author's experience in using them makes for good reading.
The illustrations are adequate rather than excellent; the attempts at valuing tools are less than useful because they are mostly rather vague.
If you're a collector specialising in a particular craft this book may not add much to your knowledge. However, if you have a wider general interest in tools it's a good book to have.
