Hundreds of thousands of people use it as a guide to simple, practical, powerful, and usable magic on a daily basis. There are three reasons you should use this book, too. First, if you have never done any sort of magic before, this book is an ideal introduction to the subject from a practical point of view. Second, although many people are involved in Pagan religions, many others are involved in Christianity. Most of the rituals in this book are presented in two ways, one for Pagans and one for Christians. This book can really be used by just about anyone. Third, by practicing the techniques in this book, you'll learn the underpinnings of magic. In no time you'll be able to come up with your own rituals based on the ones listed. When you can design your own rituals, and be successful with them, you will truly be a magician. And the place to start is with this book.

Okaaaaayyyyy.............
I found this book quite informative and, as the title says, practical, but as I am only a beginner I don't know what it meant by petitioners candles. It did not provide any information to describe and explain what petitioners candles are, so as a result I can not perform any of the rituals properly. If anybody could e-mail me and explain, i would be very much obliged. Apart from that, I feel that the book was actually quite good.
A very disappointing "classic"
This has been recommended left, right and centre. I finally bought it, quite excited. I was very disappointed. It would be narrow minded of me to say I didn't like the Christian versions, but I didn't. It put me off from the start. Christians aren't supposed to practise magick and Witches/Wiccans/Pagans aren't supposed to manipulate someone's will. So who was this book intended for?
The information on black magick was all very detailed and then went on to say don't do this. Why include detailed directions on a forbidden form of magick? Also, some of the rituals could have included a "do this ritual when in this situation..." It needed more explanations.
Some of the rituals are nice, but I like to include the Lord and Lady more than this did. I wont be recommending this book.
The best guide to candle magick for beginners
One of the fields that attracts me the most in magick is indeed the use of candles, and I've been practicing it for quite some years now, so I thought at first this book would give me nothing new. I was wrong. This is a perfect guide to understand and introduce yourself to candle magick. Most valuable of all is the fact that gives both the ancient and the modern versions of every spell. If you're interested in candle magick, get this book and you won't regret it... no matter what "some" fanatic christians may say!
