* Sylvius 4.0: Interactive Atlas and Visual Glossary of the Human Central Nervous System
By S. Mark Williams, Leonard E. White, and Andrew C. Mace
The new Sylvius 4.0 provides a unique computer-based learning environment for exploring and understanding the structure of the human central nervous system. Sylvius 4.0 features fully annotated surface views of the human brain, as well as interactive tools for dissecting the central nervous system and viewing fully annotated cross-sections of preserved specimens and living subjects imaged by magnetic resonance. This newly expanded and reconfigured Sylvius 4.0 is more than a conventional atlas; it incorporates a comprehensive, visually rich, searchable database of more than 500 neuroanatomical terms that are concisely defined and visualized in photographs, magnetic resonance images, and illustrations from Neuroscience, Fourth Edition. For users familiar with its predecessors, this version of Sylvius unites the atlas content and utility of SylviusPro (and earlier versions of Sylvius) with the reference content of SylviusVG (and Sylvius for Neuroscience), making this version of Sylvius a single source for teaching and understanding the organization of the human central nervous system. The new Sylvius 4.0 is an excellent resource for neuroscience educators, medical students, physical therapy students, other postgraduate and professional learners, as well as undergraduate pre-medical and biological psychology students.

Nice detail, concise with great illustrations5
This textbook takes the comprehensive subject of Neuroscience right down to the molecular level and works its way up whilst managing to be concise, interesting and pleasing to the eye.
I'm a second year undergraduate of Clinical Science taking Neuroscience as a stand-alone unit. This book is in the process of satisfying the Neuroanatomy (great accompanying CD), Neurophysiolgy and Neuropharmacology components of my course to a good level.
Overall this is the best choice for a book to start off when studying Neuroscience as its coverage is complete and well organised.

Another Bear, Conors and PAradisom, except better``4
I've found this useful but yet more informative reading than Kandell. Jessel and Schwartz. The pharmaolgy section being especially useful, as is the CD rom included!

BRILLIANT BOOK!!!!! BUY IT!!!!!!5
This is a brilliant book through and through, from the clear way in which the information is explained, to the innumberable colour diagrams that help you to understand the brain's structure and function at the molecular, celluar and anatomical level. There is additional software available that links with the book, information about key experiments carried out by researchers and an extensive brain atlas at the appendix of the book. As complex as the subject of neuroscience is, I'm thankful to Dale Purves and his team for creating such a helpful, well-detailed book on the subject. Perfect for university students and beyond.
