Amazon.co.uk Review
A new and updated edition of one of Dr Hessayon's indispensable "Expert" titles. This book really is another "must have" for gardeners of all backgrounds who want to bring the colour of bedding plants to their gardens. For the beginner it has everything--from the straightforward advantages of buying plants or sowing seeds to the simplicity of bedding out, together with the secrets of success in plant care.
The heart of the book will appeal to gardeners of every level of experience. The extensive A to Z, from Abutilon to Zinnia, is a well illustrated catalogue of plants. It contains "need to know" details on your favourite bedding plants and may well present you with new challenges. Among the wide variety of colourfully illustrated plants you will almost certainly find a tempting addition for your garden. Whether it be in pots, troughs, hanging baskets or the borders and rockeries, of small or large gardens, there are inspiring choices for Spring, Summer and Winter. All in all this is a straightforward and enjoyable guide that should provide a perennial source of reference and ideas. --T W Falinska

Another successful addition to the range
The Bedding Plant Expert does what it says on the tin. An interesting and fairly comprehensive look at the history of bedding, what plants have been used and what plants are most suitable. Bedding was massively popular years ago but fell out of favour during the chic 80s and 90s. As a way of introducing colour, quickly and cheaply into a garden, bedding is likely to enjoy a revival during these credit squeezed times.
As with all of the 'Expert' series of books, little or no attention is paid to the issues of organic or sustainable gardening and a younger more questioning gardening audience may find this a significant omission.
For the price this is an excellent book and very easy to use.
