Customer Reviews

An easy to read book which may help childrens' communication5
This is a very simple, sweet book, which helps children to name their feelings, and say yes and no. This is best for a child who can read it aloud to themselves - for example "I am myself, I am special and unique, My body is part of me, My thoughts are part of me, All of these things make up a special person - me." It talks about trusting people and trusting your body, and "saying no to strangers and things that hurt me." It empowers children, and encourages them to feel special. Some of the concepts are repeated in 'We can get along' which is by the same authors.

Just because it works5
We've been using this book for a while now and it's got us through some sticky moments. It's written simply enough that even quite a new reader can manage it themselves. The pictures are lovely and really add to the words. This book can really help to find out if something is bothering you child, it's a much more user-friendly way than simply asking questions. The answer to "what's wrong?" often results in "Nothing!"

We've found the best way is for my daughter to read an affirmation herself, then we discuss what the affirmation says and how it applies to her. We've reached the point now where she will ask me to pick one for her when she's feeling bad about something. We both find it very comforting and I think it's really helped her to be able to express her feelings.
