Synopsis
Hot on the heels of the critically acclaimed Voluptuous Panic, HOT GIRLS OF WEIMAR BERLIN reveals that the feminist archetype was not an invention of 1960s America. In World War I many German men lost their lives, and afterwards women's roles expanded, creating aggressive, powerful, sexual beings. Like Marlene Dietrich, Weimar women could wear suits and also retain their attractiveness and femininity. Weimar Berlin was the primary city of European sex culture, and its permissive sensibility allowed women to transgress the usual ideal. These women were allowed to exercise their sexual prerogatives right up until the Third Reich insisted that they return to the role of child-bearer.
Customer Reviews
Hot
Good coffee table filler, A good start to the insights and dodgy practices of 1920's Berlin. Its more a reference to other works and people.
Good for leaving out when the Mother in Law comes round. It will make her visits less frequent and bring some color to that ageing and haggard face
This is one for those interested but not wishing to be overly taxed by reading. Its an opening into the dark dreams and shady practices and people of the time. A time when it was considered normal for under sixteen year old girls to indulge in lesbian relations, for men to bugger boys and dogs while smoking a pipe.. there is a seedy underclass revealed of alcohol perverted sex romps and drugs of uninhibited performers and artists. As well as the desperate and dependent, sex slavery and a lot more. all of which with a liberal helping of artworks and references to other works and not a lot of text.
