Essential reading for those interested in aviation4
This book is the autobiography of a great pilot.Bud anderson may not be as famous as some other pilots, especially to non-americans,but his story is well worth the read.Bud was a triple-ace in WWII, but there is much more of equal interest in the following years.I was kept interested from start to finish. The story is exceptionally well told compared to some autobiographies. Bud Anderson has been the greatest of friends with Gen. Chuck Yeager since they both served together in the 'Yoxford Boys', based in England flying Mustangs over Europe. Anyone who has an interest in WWII aviation, test-flying or Yeager should also read this book.

A remarkable insight into the life of a WW2 fighter pilot5
The first chapter almost says it all. Anderson's description of his 1:1 fight with a very capable adversary captures, for me, the essence, the danger and the excitement of those times. Clearly bought out is the sense of duty those men possessed, a conviction which made it possible for them to throw themselves against often superior odds without, seemingly, a second thought. Remarkable.

Well covered also is the itinerant life of the post-war air force officer, the 'hard partying' and Anderson's deep and lifelong friendship with Chuch Yeager.
