Synopsis
The air war over the Eastern Front was history's longest and largest air campaign. Nevertheless, it has been one of the least known and least understood chapters of aviation history. This is because earlier publications on this immense subject have been based on material taken almost exclusively from the German side. The authors have undertaken an immense research effort to glean the true events of this air war. Thanks to their painstaking research and brilliant analysis of German archival material, some of the first Soviet Air Force records ever to be seen in the West, and new information from German and Soviet airmen, they are able present in this series many valuable new insights into the vast Eastern Front aerial struggle. Black Cross/Red Star - in four 8 *" x 11" photo-laden volumes - is to be the most complete and detailed study ever published on the air war over the Eastern Front. It presents for the first time a true balance between German and Soviet accounts.
Customer Reviews
Very interesting, but quality of the photos is not the best
It is very interesting book with many new information, to me, of course. I have found many unknown facts and datas about air war over Russia. But photos' quality disapointed me. I know that Rusian photos are rather bad, but German are OK, and in this book both are poor quality.
It explain a deeply unknown history
I think this serie of two books explain in detail a unknown history of the II W.W., a lot of bloody courage, the fight of some of the better soldiers of a country, a stupid high commando in exercise, etc. Is the " other side of the door" in the eastern front II World Air War
