Product Description

This unique book draws together two decade's worth of work by the ubiquitous British photographer Rankin. Acting as a retrospective, Visually Hungry documents the iconic creative genius throughout an extraordinary career in which he has shot many of the world's leading personalities, models and celebrities. This collection spans Rankin's extensive back catalogue, including seminal work from his early career, right through to his era-defining portraiture, genre-challenging fashion and his impossibly erotic nudes. It is - in short - a selection of Rankin's favourites.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
Exhibition of Visually Hungry: 1st April - 1st July 2007.
Rankin has been invited to exhibit a major retrospective of his work (a
selection of images from 'Visually Hungry') at the 29th International
Photofestival at Knokke-Heist, Belgium.

From the Inside Flap
`Visually Hungry' features over four hundred images spanning
the last twenty years of my life as a photographer. From my first shoots as
a student, to my most recent self-portraits and everything in between, this
is a selection of my favourite photos. I hope you enjoy looking at them as
much as I enjoyed making them.

From the Back Cover
This book and exhibition are dedicated to the memory of Roy and
Anne Waddell. Design-SEA. Print-Grafiche Antiga, Repro-Imaging.MM. All
photos copyright Rankin 2007.

Customer Reviews

pure inspiration4
the other review is completely pointless to read,

i find this book a great source for inspiration from one of the best photographers for getting feeling and a connecion out of his subjects that is not easy thing to do.

there is a reason all the people in there model for him,and that is because he knows what he is doing.

the book in itself is perfect coffee table decoration (just dont let the kids see it), inspiration, talking point and more.

on my list of books to own if you are a photography fan!

Uninteresting, unimaginative1
Looking through this book I was struck by 2 things: i) the paper smells (it's very cheaply produced and the photos are reproduced without much care or effort); ii) if the cover photo could be considered witty, nothing else inside approaches it. The subjects may be famous, the photos are ordinary. It's very expensive for what it is. Stay well clear, I'd advise, and if you do get close, don't breathe in.

Please keep an open mind...4
I felt compelled to write this review in response to certain comments made below. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but base it in facts when reviewing something. Photography is an exceptionally cut-throat industry, especially the fashion world. You don't get to the top by luck, but by style and skill - Rankin has both. Great portraits, nudes and some interesting concepts make this a fascinating, well rounded photo book which i find very inspiring in my line of work.
