Product Description

This is the second edition of an old favourite written for all students of radiography at all levels of interest. The book includes descriptions of projection radiographic techniques combined with an outline of the more common or noteworthy associated trauma and pathology. Each projection is numbered and cross-referenced; a useful table of projections is included at the beginning of each chapter. "Skeletal Radiography" provides a good introduction to the medical terminology encountered in radiographic practice. Content has been expanded and updated to take into account the latest guidelines from the Royal College of Radiologists, changes in treatments and other medical knowledge. Some new projections have been added, others removed and a few (notably in the skull chapters) have been retained for historical interest. Evidence base in the form of academic references has been included in this new edition and students studying in higher education will find this useful. This book is suitable for pre and post registration radiographers, technicians, radiological technologists, assistants, radiologists and any healthcare professional interested in this aspect of medical imaging. This is an updated edition of a book highly praised by students of radiography and qualified professionals. Students need to appreciate the indications for radiographic examinations in order to justify medical exposures; as qualified practitioners they may be required to report or comment on images. "Skeletal Radiography" helps to support development of practice and contributes to provision of the evidence base for academic study.

Editorial Reviews

Review
"E M Carver, Senior Lecturer, University of Wales, Bangor. 5 February 2006 Students will benefit from using this book in relationship to orthopaedic radiography and I feel that this is where its main strength lies. As far as I know, there is no current radiography text which offers the information found in this book, to the same depth. Although the positioning images are line drawings, these are of high quality and represent the radiographic positions accurately. Radiographs are only found where they illustrate pathology or trauma, but normal images of all radiographic projections are readily found in other radiographic techniques texts. Radiographs included are of a good standard. The index is comprehensive and easy to use. Chapters are logically organised in their position, as is the information in each chapter. It will be a useful adjunct to any core text for radiographic techniques but is not likely to be the main recommended text for modules related to this subject, as it clearly only covers one body system. However, it is a text I will definitely be recommending to undergraduate radiographers on my course, as additional reading which is likely to be particularly useful. I also intend to instruct our librarian to purchase copies of this text."
