Synopsis
This is a book about the religion once practiced ages ago in the Old Forest region of Europe. The book contains channeled messages from the Gods of the Old Forest and from the fey, as well as stories, myths, legends, and bits and pieces of the old witch language. It is not meant to be a "Wicca 101" book, but the next stage towards witches, in particular those of European descent, being able to reclaim their heritage. In this regard, there is no other book currently out there quite like this one. Not only does it provide a link to the past, but it also gives witches a potential focus for the future.

Thought-provoking and fascinating
This is not your standard book on Witchcraft. In fact, I've never read a book quite like it. The source of the information in the book are the Gods, themselves - based on the author's and others' years of channeling and working Craft. In these pages, you will find a lot of theology, philosophy and wisdom.

The author speaks of the Witch Blood - how, in the past, to be a Witch meant to be "of the Blood," within a witch family. Over the centuries, however, through inter-marriage, the Blood, which has a form of consciousness of its own, has been spread to virtually all people, and that Blood lies dormant within us until it is awakened through inner shamanic experience.

There is a connection between the Blood and the Sight - that the witch can, through altered states of consciousness, experience a gnosis of Self, of the Gods and other spirits, and of the Oneness of all things, and the Unseen world beneath the physical world, because the Blood connects them to all things, including that past and the future. As we move from the Piscean Age, characterized by opposites in conflict, and move into the Aquarian Age, characterized by a sense of the interconnectedness of all things, the Old Gods and the Witches are awakening.

Ms. Cummer goes on to paint a picture of a form of old Craft, including a well-developed pantheon of deities, and she provides rites and invocations for those deities. She does not claim that these are rites as they were done thousands of years ago, but rather rites developed for today's witches who wish to work with these old Gods and explore their ways. Witches meet at the Crossroads, the Witch's Mountain - the place that is not a place and time that is not a time. All circles are physical connections to and manifestations of the one circle; the first, true, timeless circle. She also gives rites that can be used to connect to the Fey and other spirits, such as the spirits of the Land.

The book has a mytho-poetic sense to it that truly unique. The author speaks of the calling of the Blood, of joy and terror as means to awaken it, of freedom, of Fate and inspiration, of objective and subjective reality.

It is refreshing and inspiring to read something that is the product of decades of Craft exploration and dealings with the Old Gods. Ms. Cummer has offered to the Witch community a unique and thought-provoking window into a mystical world. Even for those already on other Craft paths, there is much to provoke ideas and insights.
