Would have given it 10 stars!5
I love E Lynn Harris, and this book is no disappointment. The book centres around Chanucy who is a gay man..along the way some of his past comes back and it all unravels into a excellent story which will grip you to the end. I read this book in 2 days and would highly recomend it.

Not as strong as the rest but this book keeps you aware.3
In true E. Lynn fashion, this "supposedly" page turner is a love lost story. It is the tale of a man who is seeking closure...and a story exposing the intolerance that exists in many of our modern-day African-American houses of worship. Sad to find that these places of refuge do not appear to be thus for many of our brothers and sisters.....

I agree with those other readers on how E. Lynn did not have that same hot spice that captivates his readers. I have read a handful E. Lynn Harris book, but I wanted more of the drama that would have me thinking about this novel as if I saw it as a film. The excitement that would normally draw you to his novels was not there, and the ending was just that an ending...no fire.... no nothing just plain.

For the most part, this book delivered a very strong and clear message, homosexuals have rights and no matter what your opinion is on their life style, they can love God, one another, and no one should ever judge them. The life that Chauncey leads is one that is respectful, kind, God Loving, and humble. I love the way he tackles hypocrisy in religion and pleads for tolerance. It's an important message that can't be overstated. The twist and turns that the novel takes, will draw you in, and have you flipping a number of pages.

A love story it is not; this is about awareness, consciousness, and educating everyone that homosexuals are everywhere, including the church that coexist among us all. There was memorable cameo of Basil and Yancy which I was glad to read.I'm hoping the next novel due out in 08' has that spice that will grab and hold your attention. If you've enjoyed/have his previous novels then you'll probably enjoy adding this to your collection.
