From the Back Cover
'Takes a real hands-on approach ensuring good learning outcomes by requiring the student to follow each instruction section with an activity that reinforces learning. The activities are carefully thought out so as to ensure the student can progress without discouragement which is crucial for introductory students who have not studied quantitative methods before.' Colin Glass, University of Ulster

'The revision maths chapter is an excellent idea. Other strong points about the text incude the use of activities to reinforce points, its clear exposition and the layout.' Paul Blanchard, Oxford Brookes University

'Good diagrams, worked examples in-text and excellent self-assessment and review questions. Undergraduates should find the text easy to use.' Elizabeth West, University of Paisley

'The section on revision maths is particularly useful. One of the strongest points about the text is its emphasis on ideas, concepts and application rather than theory.' Malcolm Robertson, Southampton Institute

'One of the strongest points about the text is its clear exposition and good coverage.' Graham Crocker, University of Plymouth

Good approach but lacking in some details4
I used this book as the required textbook for an Introductory course on Quantitative Methods for Management at the Master's level. It has the benefit of being brief, inexpensive, and covers both mathematics and statistics, which few books of this type do.

In the end this book may work better for people who have already had some exposure to this material and who simply need a "refresher". For those students who have very little quantitative background, it may be too brief. A more comprehensive book is probably be more appropriate in this case.

The students complained about numerous small mistakes, which, with luck, have been removed in the second edition.

I have used earlier editions of this book and am very impressed with the new style, presentation and content. Well done Mr. Oakshott.
