Synopsis
Cool Britannia is a readable introduction to the variety of evolving and often contradictory styles of political drama that emerged in the 1990s. Drawing on new research, existing studies and leading names in the field, it creates a broad critical framework for approaching the drama of this period, examining both the work of established playwrights as well as the so-called 'In-Yer-Face' generation of young writers who emerged in the mid-1990s. It explores a wide variety of key issues, including: the impact of capitalism and globalisation; cultural politics and issues of nationhood; questions and constructions of race and gender.

Cool Britannia
I think that is a good source for people that study literature. It gives background of Britain in 1990s and make me analyse easily the plays I read that belongs to this period
Excellent Collection of Varied Views on British theatre in the 1990s
This is a strong collection of academic essays which undergraduates in particular will find very useful for the range of views from critics it provide about the political responses of British theatre in the 1990s.
While it is common to say in theatre history that British theatre changed politically in the 1990s , the essays in this book vigorously test and question this supposition, suggesting that the many of the major playwrights are not so much apolitical as is often argued but political in a different fashion from their Brechtian predecessors. It has proved a useful book for my undergraduates writing on the subject.
