Editorial Reviews
Synopsis
This updated edition of an influential interpretation of Henry VIII's Reformation retains the analytical edge and lucidity of the original work. Richard Rex emphasizes the personal role of Henry VIII in driving the Reformation process, as well as the considerable reinforcement of Henry's power rendered by that process. In a powerful new chapter which takes into account recent research, Rex elucidates the way in which 'politics' and 'religion' interacted in early Tudor England.
Customer Reviews
Rex explains the reasons for the Reformation superbly.
Being an A-Level history student studying the Reformation it was essential for me to find a clealry structured book. Providing a different approach, Rex examines each of the reasons for the Refomation in turn but not with the traditional narrative approach. In recent years ideas for the causes of the Reformation have changed and Rex takes these into consideration. I would throughly recommend the book and have found it invaluable for my studies.
