I am an Aussie, living in England, raising three children. I bought this book for my children, but was really disappointed. It is a nice book, nice illustrations, but some of the information, if not entirely inaccurate, is rather misleading. It also buys into stereo-types of Australia (which are not always accurate) and focuses only on internationally well known areas of Australia (for instance, on the map, it only lists the cities of Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne, although there is room for the other capital cities). It is a USA publication, and is clearly written for American children who want to learn about Australia. Probably a nice book for American pre-schoolers! I sent mine back.
Australia ABC's
This book was bought for my grand-daughter who is 5 - she is mad about Australia and I thought this would give her an idea of what to expect, should she every go. She enjoyed the pictures but had difficulty with some of the words as she was not too familar with them. Overall a good purchase and one I would recommend.
