NVQs for Dental Nurses provides trainee dental nurses with a central course companion for the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 in Oral Healthcare. It offers comprehensive support on mandatory units of the course in addition to supplying material on the optional units most common to clinical dentistry.
Modern to the core, the book will develop the NVQ dental nurse’s understanding of current dental practice, as well as providing refreshing reading for those educated on the ‘National’ course.
The book positions dental nursing within a progressive education framework and embraces an holistic ethos of patient care. It provides essential reading for students of dental nursing and is a timely addition to the literature for practising, returning or refocusing dental nurses.

Editorial Reviews
Review
′Carole Hollins′s excellent book is published at a particularly important time with the advent of statutory registration of dental nurses in the UK...The books is aimed at all those undertaking dental nursing training with a view to obtaining a registrable qualification′
′The book is designed to be a study guide rather than a reference book and as such will be an essential addition to any practice or clinic: to be used by both dental nurses undergoing training and also as a revision textbook for qualified dental nurses. The book will also provide a very valuable teaching aid for employers and dental nurse tutors.′
European Journal of Dental Education
′This book has been written to cover the NVQ syllabus and manages to do this superbly well.′
′No time has been wasted on waffle; it is clear and to the point, using diagrams to explain everything from tooth structure through to instrumentation. The activities section at the end of each chapter is very useful and could be used for setting projects and assignments.′
′The last two chapters on communication and developing one′s own knowledge are a welcome addition to a dental nursing book. These are the D units which ... cause the most confusion and dread, but both are handled very well here.′

Pre–Publication Review Comments:
In my opinion, the author has constructed a well–thought out book. The introductory information is clear and will aid the reader to navigate their way around the book and dip in and out as needed. The glossary of terms is excellent and provides the reader with an understanding of the terminology they will encounter throughout the learning programme . . . I for one will be looking out for it on the shelf.
Lynn Nichol, Senior Dental Nurse Tutor, Newcastle–upon–Tyne Dental Hospital
I read the book in two sittings and found it an easy style to read. I particularly liked the bullet points to explain procedures . . . The chapters that deal with caries and periodontal disease are excellent and Carole Hollins’ background of training dental nurses shows in the easy simple way she explains these areas without compromising on detail.

Customer Reviews
Good explanation, easy to use well recommended
I purchased this book as i have started a course in dental nursing. I found this book easy to use, terminology understandable and refers to the units in the course.
Previously i used the leversons which i found harder to intake. With the NVQ's for dental nurses book you can refer to it and actually tie it in with the units making your job a lot easier.
The diagrams are easy to understand and plentiful.
Well Done, this is a book i will keep for many years even after my course is complete.
