Doctors at all levels and Nurses with an interest- This book is made for you!
This book is an excellent read for juniors and seniors alike. It is easy to follow, concise, well-written, with excellent explanations and descriptions of symptoms, signs, investigations, pathogenesis and treatment. Furthermore, the illustrations and colours throughout the book are very attractive. With renal textbooks in particular, I believe it is difficult to get the correct balance of information so that there is important detail yet succinct information. ABC of Kidney Disease has successfully achieved this superbly. I am certain it will attain a new height of usage and praise.
Great Book For GPs, SHOs and non-specialists!!
I am a great fan of the ABC series and have been saying for months since the introduction of the new eGFR standards for Primary Care that there was a need for a general synopsis of Chronic Renal Disease - well this is most certainly it! My practice partner has managed to acquire a copy today and I have spent an hour or two over lunch reading it. I must say I am most impressed!!!
For GPs it is a great summary of a wide range of renal pathologies and for more junior physicians in the hospital setting it allows a degree of confidence when dealing with those renal patients we all find difficult (and somewhat scary) to manage.
The bottom line? Buy this and you will NOT be disappointed!
Fantastic primer for GPs, PAMs, and non-specialists
Once in a while you see something that is special. This book is one such. It is a handily-sized 12 Chapter 82 pages in A4 format size. It is pitched exactly at the educated non-expert and as such is perfect for GPs, other non-nephrology specialists, medical students and many in the allied healthcare professions who help look after kidney patients. There is a clear emphasis on approachable useful information, with lovely line-drawings and pictures. The chapters on Chronic Kidney Disease, Dialysis, Transplantation, Kidney Disease in Children, and Conservative management (how many books feature that?) are truly outstanding. The book is written in a bang-up-to-date way, with eGFR well explained, and reference to the NSF and other recent changes in service and clinical practices.
If there is one kidney book the NON expert should get, this is it !!
