Gavin O’Toole is an academic and a journalist. He has taught Latin American politics and democratic theory at Queen Mary, University of London, and held seminars at Birkbeck College and the former Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS) in London. He is currently Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute for the Study of the Americas, University of London.

Getting into Latin America
This is both a first rate primer and guide to the politics of Latin America. Those who are new to the affairs of the region will find it an extremely good introduction, while those who feel they know Latin America already will also find it has much to tell them. It is accessible and well written and makes what can be a complex subject easy to grasp. Highly recommended.
