Product Description

This jungle tale reads as a long joke, furnished with a hilarious punch line. A simple scenario is established, and the lively, repetitive text builds up to the satisfying end twist, which is guaranteed to tickle even the most reluctant reader. Great fun to read aloud, this lively story is perfect as an early reader and bears many repeated readings, when the punch line can be gleefully pre-empted.

Customer Reviews

Colin West produces another 'GREAT' story5
with the usual twist in the tale!

Simply illustrated paperback covers open to 24 high quality shiny pages, in the popular 2-page spread format.
With delightful illustrations throughout, this book is further enhanced by meaningful facial expressions and the repeat elements.
Clear, easy-to-follow text....enhanced in places....FOR EFFECT!

Example of text:-

' "Hello, I'm a great big bullfrog," said the great big bullfrog.
"Hello, great big bullfrog! Guess who I am!"

"I'm a great big rat," said the great big rat.
to the great big bullfrog........'

offering a paw-shake, as he looks down.
Along comes an even bigger friend on the right hand page, with a claim to even bigger greatness........and another......

...and so the story carries on, with the list of 'greats' increasing on the left hand page as the poor 'great big bullfrog' diminishes in importance and declines to have a 'great big HULLABALOO', by default!
However........ something happens to restore his faith in his claim!

In my experience, this book has proved VERY NOISY in the reading corner, as the listeners join in with varying voices for the great bullfrog et al.......and the phrase:-

"Guess who I am!"

as they try and recall the order of the animals, in a mini-memory game.

It has also proved useful in further discussion with the scanning of the super illustrations for feelings and clues to the next character to emerge....and ......the final outcome.

One title of a seemingly under-exposed series by this super author/illustrator which includes:-

"Pardon?" said the Giraffe
"Not me," said the Monkey
"Have You Seen the Crocodile?"
"Go tell it to the Toucan!"
