Customer Reviews

Too Simplistic?3
In the fourth edition of this American text, Sherwood provides new features on some interesting research breakthroughs in he last few years. These boxed features supplement the text well along with the colourful diagrams.
As a Medical student I find the text nonconcise, with Sherwood taking ten pages to explain something when two would do.
I find this a little tiresome as I have scant time to wade through the text highlighting what is relevant for my course.
The flow diagrams are useful if you like learning from this style of layout but are sometimes a little confusing and would benefit from more descriptive legends.
I think that this book is not concise enough for medical students and does not go into enough detail for Physiologists.
It is useful however if you are having trouble with particular concepts as Sherwood uses student friendly ways to try and explain physiological processes.
It is certainly worth a look and worth buying as a supplemental resource to a more to thorough text.

Medical school student's review:3
This book is perfect if you love long drawn out prose explanations.

If you do not, beware of buying it. Its driving me round the bend with its waffely style. Get a decent editor Sherwood!

In its defence is the comprehensive coverage and interesting text boxes explaining concepts in practice.

The book is beautifully printed and bound.

Human Physiology: AISE Version: From Cells to Systems4
While I purchased this book for my daughter who requires it as a reference for her studies I was somewhat disappointed to learn that the study aid CD Rom that it says is included apparently does not come with the "AISE version, despite the book referring to it. I bought the book nevertheless but it'
s value is diminished by the absence of the CD.
